Weigh-In Wednesday...

The reason for the whoop whoop?

I hit the 10 lbs lost mark!!

Happy Dance

I was completely floored when I stepped on the scale this morning. I was expecting a gain, so imagine my surprise when I saw my biggest weekly loss to date (3 lbs) and realized that I was officialy at 10 lbs lost

I ate out three times last week (when I normally only eat out about once a month) because I had family in 'the city' during the week that I had lunch dates with. Add that to the fact that I didn't start working out with Jillian  again (after being sick for 2 weeks) until Saturday and I didn't think I was going to like what I saw on the scale AT ALL.  It may have also had something to do with the fact that I ate gummy bears for dessert last night... In my defense I did have points left for the day...

So to say I was a little scared to step on the scale today is an understatement. But I'm happy I did and am hoping that that number just keeps going down every week

Heres the thing though: I haven't noticed a single difference in myself. When I first started this lifestyle change I thought for sure that I would notice 10 lbs gone. NOPE.  Haven't noticed a difference at all. My cousin noticed and mentioned to my Mom that she thought I was losing weight but if it weren't for the number on the scale going down I would think that my weight stayed the same this whole time

My plan? Take some 'before' pictures - for my eyes only, for now, until I feel comfortable posting - so that I can compare the pictures every few weeks and see if I notice a change then

Anyone else not noticing a difference in themselves after losing??

Lets Talk Travel...

I'd like to call myself a globetrotter (and not the Harlem kind) but unless you count trotting off to Vegas every year then sadly, I'm not one... yet

I haven't actually went anywhere further than Mexico since I went to Europe in 2003

So I'm not so much a globetrotter as I am a North America-trotter (insert super embarassing story here: I didn't know that Mexico was a part of North America until last year... when I was 24... thank you Canadian educational system)


Last year I went to Vegas, NYC/Pennsylvania and Mexico

I loved every aspect of each of my trips but they bled my bank account dry

If my friend hadn't gotten married in Mexico I wouldn't have made another big trip last year, especially that close to Christmas but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see her get married, could I?! Probably

I've been budgeting, stretching every last dollar and saving like crazy for a down payment to buy my own home... even though I'm 99.9% certain I don't want to live in O-town forever

Crazy, right?

When I travelled to NYC I fell in LOVE. And I made myself a promise that someday I would live there. Even if its only for a month. I just want to experience everything a big city has to offer

So my plan:  Keep saving for that down payment, just in case. But I'm also going to start a seperate savings so I can keep traveling. And maybe I will fall in love with another city. Who knows

I will be heading off to Vegas this April or May for sure. I've been talking with a friend about a weekend trip to Minneapolis and with my Twin about a trip to Phoenix. As much as it makes sense to take a break from traveling to save money I just can't do it. Once you start traveling you can't stop

Within the next two years I want to go back to NYC and San Antonio/New Braunfels and Chicago is at the top of my 'destination list'

One day I will make it back to Europe and experience the things that a 15 year old couldn't bother to care about

And I will live in NYC someday. I can't break a promise to myself! :)

When I saw that  Holly was linking up for a "What's In Your Makeup Bag?" linkup I thought it was a fun idea and I LOVE being snoopy  getting opinons on other products
I'm kind of a product whore
Remember this post where I realized I spend waaay to much money on beauty products?


Of course yesterday I was an hour away from home at the time I saw Holly's post so mine had to wait until today

To be honest, I don't wear makeup that often - Usually only on weekends and only if I'm going out
I don't wear makeup for everyday life
(I can almost hear the gasps)
I already get up early enough in the mornings and just don't have the energy to put on a facefull of a makeup when the only people I will see all day are my family, my employees, 90 children who love me even without makeup, a few parents if they decide to stop in the office that day and that one hot dad. 
On second thought, maybe I should be wearing makeup every day...

Kidding. He's married. But I can still look...

So. If I do wear makeup during the weekday it is usually just mascara and maybe (if I'm feeling energetic) some eyeliner

In the summer I tend to wear a little more because I wear my contacts all summer (so I can wear sunglasses) and I don't have glasses to hide behind when I'm inside

Here it is, my makeup bag in all its her glory

My Coach makeup bag. I got her (yes, its a her) for a steal of a deal at the Coach Outlet in Hershey, PA in the summer. I got my sister and mom mini ones too. Can't beat the prices at the outlets people!

The contents:

  • Victoria's Secret Face Prime Make-Up Primer & Setting Spray - I ALWAYS wear this in the Summer and especially on hot holidays to make sure my makeup doesn't melt right off my face
  • Hangover Helper inhaler- Extremely helpful for those raging hangovers. Especially the Vegas ones. I got this at an Oxygen Bar in Vegas and it goes with me everywhere my makeup bag goes. It legit works. Trust me
  • Clearasil Rapid Action Treatment Cream- If I start feeling like I might be getting a zit I throw this over the area and it magically disappears
  • Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara- Love, love, LOVE this mascara. It's a waterproof mascara so I can only use it when I don't have eyelash extensions done (I don't right now). I have tried so many different kinds of mascara and found this one to be the best in its price range
  • Victoria's Secret Smoky Shimmer Eyeshadow- Grabbed this gem right before my Mexican getaway and wore it everyday in Mexico. Love it so much. Now if only I could master making it look like the picture on the front...
  • Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream- Also helpful when I have a raging hangover and have to be presentable in public
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion- Hands down the best makeup purchase EVER. A bit pricy but so worth it. I got it at Sephora in Vegas on the recommendation of a friend. I owe that friend BIG time. When I use it my eyeshadow actually lasts. If you take anything away from this post it is that you NEED this product.  Need it
  • Revlon Lip Butter- Can't remember the name of the colour. I normally just wear gloss, not a big lipstick fan, so this Lip Butter is perfect!
  • Rimmel Eyeshadow- My go to eyeshadow before I bought the VS palette. If I happen to do full makeup for work I'll use this shadow
  • Revlon eyelash curler- I have to have long eyelashes. Have to. My cousin does eyelash extensions so I normally have extensions on but I took a little break over Christmas since they are quite pricy. No matter the occasion, if I am wearing mascara I always curl my lashes.
  • Ecotools Eyeshadow brush- I'm too cheap broke to spend a ton of money on brushes right now (one day I will!). I have the Ecotools eyeshadow brush and it is the only brush I have. I don't wear powder foundation or bronzer (I've been blessed with good skin tone - thank you native ancestors) so I don't have a use for any other brushes
  • Eyelash Extension Brush- When you have eyelash extensions you wake up in the morning and have to brush your lashes out or they are EVERYWHERE
  • Tweezers- gotta have em'
  • Grey and Black Eyeliner- I usually buy the $8 Rimmel version but am definitely going to look at options in Sephora on my next Vegas trip

Weigh In Wednesday...


This girl still hasn't worked out in a week and a half :( First I was dying of Strep Throat and the thought of walking up stairs almost killed me, let alone having Jillian kick my ass for a half hour. THEN the medication for my Strep Throat that was supposed to make me feel a million times better made me feel a million times worse. Sure, my throat is feeling better but the medication has made me feel like I've had the flu for almost a week. And I still have four more days of it...

For the past week when I've gotten home from work I have just been eating a quick supper and then heading straight to bed. Last night I stayed up until 9:00 and I thought I was going to die. I haven't drank coffee in THREE DAYS (that's a BIG deal for me) because it doesn't agree with the medication either. So I have been a lethargic hot mess constantly trying to catch up on missed sleep. It aint working. The extra sleep I am trying to get in and the constant flu feeling is the reason I have been missing workouts. This morning I vowed that I would have a date with Jillian tonight come hell or high water. Even if I have to prop my eyes open with toothpicks I will get a workout in. No more 'reason's or 'excuses'

With all that being said I did weigh myself this morning (whooo for remembering!) and I have lost another 1.5 lbs. I wasn't expecting to see this since I haven't worked out in so long AND I ate out twice this week. I went for supper with friends on Monday night and for lunch yesterday with family that was in 'the city'. I very rarely eat out (at the most two times a month) so I wasn't expecting to see a loss this week at all - But I'm definitely not complaining!

Late to the Party...

I'm a little late to the party but in my defense I forgot to take pictures of my workout gear this am and then I was an hour away from home

1. Various Lululemon Headbands - I cannot wear my hair pulled back without a headband on when working out. 2. My FAVOURITE shorts. Lululemon of course. I got them at Lulu in Vegas and haven't been able to find any others :( 3. Old Navy Active Super Mesh Bubble tanks. Super comfortable and very lightweight.   4. Lululemon  No Show Ultimate socks. I don't wear them everyday (too expensive!) but I love them for working out. I HATE when you can see your socks peeking out from your running shoes. It kills me!  5. Lululemon No Limits tank top. Lots of breathing room. SUPER soft material. I wear this in the summer on weekends all the time.  6. Lululemon capris. Not sure what the style is called. I get so many compliments on them but you cannot find them anywhere anymore. I have looked in Saskatoon, Vegas and NYC and never seen them again. They hit at the perfect length - between a short and a capri length

Bench is another Canadian brand of activewear clothing. I own two pairs of their yoga pants. (Of course those pants never actually go to yoga. They do however go to work with me at least twice a week...) I don't like to dress to heavy when I work out because I get hot enough as it is but if I do have to wear a long pant my Bench (or my Lulu's of course) are my go to pants

Daily Yoga Jacket
I have this Lululemon hoodie in white and black. It's perfect for in fall when you need to wear a light jacket but don't want something that is too heavy

I admitted to Mel that I was apparently oblivious to the fact that anyone besides Lululemon could make cute active wear clothes (its a Canadian company so I'm biased) but realized that maybe I should branch out a bit

I've decided that when I hit my #operationredbikini goal weight that I am going to splurge on some new activewear and thanks to this link up I have got some good ideas of what places to hit up!

The Facts of Me, K...

After 20 + years I have finally kicked my nail biting habit - all it took was a trip to Mexico

I have never dyed my hair... like, ever.

I love using 'like, ever' to annoy people. Thanks T-Swift!

I hate when my food touches.. I've been known to have 6 different pieces of tupperware on my plate so that my food absolutely cannot touch

I am terrified of spiders. I scream, cry, and do a little dance until someone comes to rescue me. If no one is around I blast the spider with hairspray until it shrivels up and dies and then leave it for someone else to clean up. NO WAY am I getting anywhere near its corpse

I make sure to greet my animals the same way I would my family or friends. A simple 'Hi Luna, how was your day? Did you have fun?' and I feel like I am helping boost her self esteem

I was so drunk at my high school graduation that I barely remember it - whooops

I can't just watch tv- I have to be doing something else to or I feel like I am wasting precious daylight hours. My idea of 'something else': Facebook 'stalking', Tweeting, Pinning, browsing Instagram, and of course, reading blogs

I 'research' aka Google everything. I also spend a lot of time on Google when I am watching tv. I know some of the most random things about the world thanks to this weird habit

I remember faces and names of people I have only met (or seen) once. If my sister is watching a show and she can't remember who the actor is or what other show they have been on she knows she just has to ask me (and if I can't remember? I Google it.)

My SUV's name is Eleanor. Her predecessors were named Tonto and Gretchen

I always sleep with a bra on. ALWAYS

I have had dreams that ended up coming true. Never about good things though. I'm still hoping for that dream where I win the lottery...

Cotton balls are my worst enemy. Just the sight of them and I get goosebumps. I can never open a bottle of Advil for this reason, someone always has to do it for me and get rid of the cotton ball before I see it

I never leave the house without a ponytail on my wrist. I wear my hair down for about the first hour of work and then it's put up for the rest of the day. Every day I tell myself I will keep it down all day... and everyday I fail miserably

I went to NYC for the first time in the Summer of 2012 and fell in LOVE with the city. I plan on living there one day

I'm afraid of heights yet I have been convinced to ride the NY-NY roller coaster in Vegas, go ziplining over Fremont Street in Vegas, AND go to the top of the Empire State Building

I easily give in to peer pressure (see above)

I LOVE Dr. Pepper (though I rarely ever drink it) and when people say they don't like it they immediately get one strike against them

When people say they wish they had my commute to work I want to punch them in the face. I can think of so many other things I could be doing with that hour and a half out of my day. Idiots

I've been known to skip ahead and read the ending of a book. I still go back and read the rest of the story but I just get so impatient that I HAVE to know how the story is going to end. I sometimes will read spoilers for tv shows and movies too...

When I find a good blog I find myself reading the ENTIRE blog contents in one sitting

Sometimes I think the only reason I would ever want to have kids is to get to name them. I have AWESOME baby names picked out

If I am at home I will read an entire book at night before I go to sleep - not just parts of a book, an entire book

I give all of my animals nicknames and never call them by their real names

Dear Wal-Mart Pharmacist: I have had strep throat more times than I can even begin to count - therefore, I know the 'dangers' of mixing my antibiotics with my birth control pills. I do not need a 20 minute lecture about it! And don't worry, if I somehow did end up pregnant, I wouldn't be "throwing you under the bus" (his exact words) and blaming you for not explaining the dangers of mixing the medications.I have absolutely no intentions of getting pregnant right now- maybe even ever. Spare me the lecture next time, kapeesh?

Weigh-In Wednesday. . .

It's that time again :


As of Monday (my WW weigh in day - I once again forgot to step on the scale before I ate breakfast this am) I was down another 2 lbs, for a total of 6 lbs lost

BUT I am kinda afraid for next Monday, because I haven't worked out since Sunday :(

I am super sick with what I'm assuming is Strep Throat (get it every couple of months, without fail). I've been in bed by 8:00 the last two nights with a major sinus headache and by that time of the night my throat is hurting so bad all I want to do is sleep so I can't feel the pain anymore - which means no working out at night like I had been doing for the last two weeks 

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow (finallly!) so hopefully I can get filled full of some good meds and get back to Ripped in 30 ASAP

I've still been tracking with WW and being very conscious of what I am eating. I haven't ate chips or had a drop of alcohol since New Years Eve! (For me that is a HUGE achievement). I normally have at least a couple of drinks on the weekends and chips have ALWAYS been my weakness

But not anymore!

I'm not saying I'm not going to have those weak moments where I fall back into a bad habit but I am not going to revert back to my old ways

I want to see those numbers on the scale go down, and not up

I've realized that I have to commit fully to a lifestyle change  - I can't just expect to work my ass off for the next few months to get to where I want to be and then just go back to my old ways and still see the same number on the scale

My Nalgene bottle is my favourite for at work. I normally drink a lot of water throughout the day, and with being sick I've been drinking even more than usual. I make sure to drink a full  bottle between 8-12 and then another full bottle between 12 and 5. Of course, this means I have to pee every 5 seconds. The upside:   the staff  washroom is in the basement so I am also getting some exercise in  from  constantly going up and down                                              the stairs ;)

I LOVE fruit, just hate how expensive it can be
When I was younger I wouldn't eat fruit if I were on a deserted island and it was the only thing that would keep me alive - and now, I can't get enough of it

My go to snack lately:
Cucumber and vinegar with a sprinkle of salt
Sooo delicious and definitely better for my ass than a bag of chips!

Weekend Update . . .

I had one of the most low-key weekends ever but I'm gonna link up anyways because I don't have the energy to think something else up

I had zero plans made for my weekend which turned out be a good thing because of this:

On Thursday the Weather Network put out a Winter Storm Warning. The so-called 'storm' was supposed to start Thursday night and last into Friday afternoon. However, the Weather Network NEVER gets it right. Like, ever. By the time I went to bed late Friday night nothing had happened yet so I was hoping I would just wake up to a shit load of snow on Friday morning (only because that would mean I get storm stayed at home and not at work, 45 minutes away). No such luck. I woke up and looked out the window at nothing. Nada. Zilch. Not a single snowflake had fallen. The wind was really strong but I couldn't justify calling into work because of the possibility of a snow storm. So I started the trek into work. About 25 minutes into my drive it started blowing pretty bad and visibility was terrible, but I was already halfway there and didn't want to turn around after making it that far. I made it to work only to be told by countless parents and staff that walked in that it was just getting worse and worse outside. The longer I stayed at work the crappier it got.  I ended up staying at work for two and a half hours before I finally decided to call it a day.  I left at the perfect time - as soon as I got home you could barely see my house from the driveway. I curled up on the couch with Kirbster, watched some curling, and pretty much stayed in the same spot all weekend long. 

It didn't help that I started feeling sick Friday morning. I have been on a 2 year waiting list for a tonsillectomy since last May - I get Strep Throat every few months and I'm pretty sure that it has hit me again :(

I definitely didn't have a productive weekend ( I did make sure to get in a workout though! I've got #operationredbikini priorities!) but sometimes its nice to lay low and relax

She spent an hour trying to get it out  - She eventually gave up, covered her eyes, and hung her head in shame (picture on the left). She still loves me anyways probably because I didn't end up giving her the bright pink manicure I had promised

 I am a HUGE curling fan and now that curling season is in full force expect to hear more about it (Sorry I'm not sorry. . . )

I started cleaning my bathroom but got distracted looking through all my products - which ended up in me triple barrelling my hair right before I worked out. (?! Right) I blame it on the sickness.  Aaaaand my bathroom ended up messier than it was before. Whoooops . . .

On a completely unrelated note, how good were Tina and Amy (yep, we're totes on first name basis) at the Golden Globes?! Of course I didn't watch the Golden Globes, I just caught the good stuff on Twitter as soon as it happened but OMG they were HI-LARIOUS. I want them to be my BFF's. And if they're not down with that I just want them to make more movies together . . . and with Kristen Wiig too . . . that shit would be amazinggg

One of Those Days . . .

Today is just one of those days where you start to write a blog post . . . and all you do is sit and stare at the computer screen

Its not that I don't have lots to share or say

I just don't have the drive to do it today

 Rae is sick with Scarlet Fever (yuck!) so she has been off school since Tuesday and hanging out with Grandma and Papa during the days. She's been colouring up a storm. I LOVE seeing all her artwork and most of it usually finds its way to my office at work to be displayed

 There is nothing better than coffee and a good book on the Nook when you can't sleep in 
and it's too gross outside to do anything
(Of course this is from the weekend - I never get to sleep in past 5 am on weekdays - boooo to commuting to work)

I have told my staff at least a billion times that I am NOT a morning person and that they shouldn't even attempt to talk to me unless I have had at least one cup of coffee - yet they still don't get it

It's About Time Blogger! & Weigh-In Wednesday. . .

Apparently my prayers to the blogging gods worked because Blogger dug in deep and pulled that stick outta her ass and is finally letting me post pictures. HALLELUJAH!

Does this picture have anything at all to do with this post? NOPE. But its proof that Blogger finally accepted that I was going to go exorcist on her ass if she didn't start co-operating

Also, I posted this picture on Instagram last week (after losing it for a year and a half - whooops) and ever since I have been going back and forth on whether I (I meaning my fabulous hairdresser) should go back to bangs. Thoughts?? (Ps. I'm the one on the left in the Grey shirt)

Okay, enough distraction . . .

On Weight Watchers (which I have stuck with for a full week already, thankyouverymuch *pats self on back*) my weigh in days are Mondays . . . as of this Monday I was down 4 lbs. Not a huge number but I will take whatever I can get as long as the number isn't going up

I was going to weigh myself again this morning but I forgot and didn't think it would be a good idea to do it right after inhaling eating a bagel with PB and downing an XL coffee . . . maybe next week I'll remember to do it before eating . . .

On that note, I've been watching what I eat like crazy and making sure to stay within my allotted daily points. I've also been researching different recipes on Pinterest and then just throwing some together myself, like this one: 

Ham and Cheese Pita Pizza
I've had  this twice already. It's a Weight Watchers whole wheat pita (4 points), 2 Tbsp pizza sauce (0 points), 15 g shredded mozzarella cheese (2 points) and two slices of baked honey ham (1 point). So a combined total of 7 points. It may not look that big but it was very filling and tasted just like regular pizza. The next time I make it I'll make sure to add tons of green peppers and red onions. Mmmmmm  

This little kitchen scale has become my best friend. I have been using my Weight Watchers app on my Iphone to calculate the points of pretty much everything in my house and making sure that the portions are accurate with the help of the scale. I even pulled my phone out in the grocery store aisles to determine whether I should buy something or not. Thank god for technology

I've been working out with Jillian's Ripped in 30. I like it soooo much better than the 30 Day Shred, mainly because the first week of Ripped in 30 there are NO jumping jacks ( I loathe jumping jacks! and the 30 Day Shred kills me with all the jumping jacks)

Normally I hate leaving a mess around. I always make sure to tidy up my room, make my bed, put dishes in the dishwasher, etc. before I leave for work in the morning but I find it pointless to put this stuff away.  Every morning it is right there calling my name and reminding me to get my ass in gear

Gotta get this body in shape for Vegas in April/May :)

Honestly, I don`t have anything to compare them to, they are the most expensive pair of running shoes I have ever purchased and when I tried them on and walked around the store I felt like I was walking on clouds (it didn`t hurt that I got them at Reeboks outlet store in Vegas and they were at least half off the regular price). I`m not a runner (yet!) so I`m not sure how well they will do regarding running but when I work out in them they don`t give me any problems

Have you had any bad experiences with other brands? Which ones do you avoid?
This is super embarassing to admit but I once bought a pair of running shoes from Wal-Mart for $8 (yes, EIGHT dollars) because I was a poor college student and didn`t feel like dropping cash on running shoes when it could be better spent on booze - priorities ya know.  I was working out with a friend at our College`s fitness centre and didn`t think there was anything wrong with my shoes . . . until I started getting foot pains, knee pains, etc. . . It is NEVER okay to work out in $8 Wal-Mart shoes!! N-E-V-E-R

Do you have more than one pair of running shoes for different types of workouts?
I have a pair of Nike running shoes - not sure what style- that I used in gym class in Grade 10 (a billion years ago it seems) and they were the ones I used until I forgot them in SK while I was in school in AB and bought the horrible $8 shoes. . . I reverted back to the billion year old Nikes until I bought the Easytones a year ago in Vegas.  So I am definitely no expert in the running shoe department! BUT I am hoping to get some insight into some good ones for outdoor running through this link up for when I start in the Spring (and I don`t want any comments about how ``just because its Winter doesn`t mean you can`t run outside`` - I live in small town Saskatchewan and they don`t plow the whole 20 streets that exist ALL WINTER so if I even attempted to run on them I would probably definitely break something)

Have you ever been fit for a shoe by a specialist? Did you find this helpful?
Unfortunately no. Until I reconnected with the blogging world I didn`t even know that shoe specialists existed! I guess thats what you get when you live in the middle of nowhere . . .

So once again here is to hoping that Blogger can get her poop in a group so that tomorrow I can FINALLY post the one blog post that I actually pre-planned! Wish me luck. . .

What I'm Loving . . .

Happy New Year and Happy Wednesday-that-feels-like-Monday!
I had a four-day 'weekend' so today feels so much like Monday that it is driving me CRAZY - the upside is that I only have to suffer through get through three days of work and then it's the weekend again and I get some more 'me time' - translation: cleaning and organizing a 1300 square foot basement full of STUFF. sigh. Not quite my idea of 'me time' but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do
Anywhoooo . . .
Back to the regularly scheduled program:

As much as I DO NOT want to be back at work I am loving being back in a routine. A set time to get up, normal meal times, etc. It feels goooood

I have went 2 1/2 weeks without chewing my nails! WHOOP WHOOP! I have tried soooo many times in the past to stop this disgusting habit to no avail - but I found the miracle cure- MEXICO. Turns out you don't really want to chew your nails when all you taste is sand and seawater. So if I ever take the nasty habit back up I guess I just need a trip to Mexico :)

Reconnecting with Weight Watchers - something I definitely slacked on in 2012. I can only use the online version or else I have to stay late in 'the city' for actual meetings and I STILL haven't completely figured out the website yet but I am trying! So here's to hoping I can stick with it AND see some results

That I scored the first 3 seasons of Sons of Anarchy off Amazon for a steal of a deal - I have watched them all on Netflix but when I saw that they were on sale I HAD to have them (Story of my life)
