Currently (March 2016)...

Happy last day of March y'all! I was looking ahead at my schedule for April and commiserating over the fact that I currently only have about 5 days with nothing scheduled when I realized that I hadn't yet done a Currently post for March. Nothing like leaving things until the last minute! 


Reading still trying to work my way through my reading pile. Currently (still) working on Go Set a Watchman. I think I may have to set it aside and re-read To Kill a Mockingbird (for the millionth time) and then go back to it. Before I know it its going to be time for my annual Summer Harry Potter re-read so I need to start whittling down my reading pile!

Listening to Spotify all day every day. I can't believe I'm just hopping on the Spotify bandwagon (though to be fair its new-ish to Canada). I've discovered so many new favourite songs in the past couple weeks

Celebrating the beginning of Spring! I just despise Winter SO much that the start of Spring is such an exciting thing for me. The excitement lasts for about two weeks and then I remember that Spring brings allergies and I feel like I'm dying but for now I'm still in the loving Spring phase. Also,  Mama Bears birthday was last week and we celebrated with two delicious cakes and chicken stirfry as per Mama's request. Her present finally arrived in the mail yesterday and I totally want to keep it for myself. I might have to order myself the same thing and Mama and I can be twinning 

Watching the movie Sisters over and over and over again. It's a bit cheesy and obviously unrealistic but Amy and Tina are my spirit animal bff's and they can do no wrong in my books

Drinking a day old Palm Bay that's on my nightstand (can't let any alcohol go to waste - thats alcohol abuse haha).  I've also been loving Blackberry Ginger Ale and coffee is still my best friend due to insomnia. I have to get all the delicious drinks in before Tuesday when its back to water and black coffee for 30 days. Ughhh

Waiting for 6:30 tomorrow (as I write this Wednesday night) to hurry up and get here. The twin, Toni, and our cousin Star and I are getting together for supper and drinks at the Olive Branch. The last time I was there I was on the Whole30 and I couldn't indulge and since I start another Whole30 in 4 days I plan on totally indulging. Bring on all.the.food.

Loving Snapchat and all its filters. Especially the airbrush filter - why can't I look like that in real life?! haha I'm a little bit Snapchat obsessed right meow. I used to be all about IG but now there are days I forget to even check IG at all. Snapchat is definitely where its at for me right now. Add me - chiglechic (shameless plug)

Working on a million different projects - Spring just makes me want to clean and organize everything. There are a million other things I should be doing but those projects seem to be taking precedence. Organizing my Pinterest boards definitely isn't at the top of my to do list but I've found myself spending a lot of time working on that lately. I obviously need to work on sorting out my priorities...

Wearing clothes that I hate and am so sick of. I need an entire new wardrobe I swear! Everything I've bought lately just hasn't worked - I really need to get to a city so I can actually try things on. I don't own a single pair of jeans right now y'all - how terrible is that?!

Anticipating the beginning of baseball season - only three more sleeps until the season opener! Though I'll be stuck at work and not able to watch. Most of the time I don't mind giving up my Sundays for my second job but in this instance it really blows 

Making a plan of attack for the Whole30. I definitely didn't go into my last Whole30 very prepared. Though it still worked out fine I would like to be a little more prepared this go around

After filling out my April schedule I'm a little hesitant for the month to start - it is SO busy but with it being busy I hope it will fly by and then May can arrive, with even nicer weather and my Twin Cities trip, and then time can really slow down so I can enjoy everything Summer

Spring Bucket List 2016...

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope y'all had a good Easter holiday with your family and friends. I ditched most of my family (we postponed Easter celebrations this year) over the weekend and headed up to Yorkton with my sister to visit our friend Scooby. We've been trying really hard to make an effort to see each other at least once a month and Scooby is a teacher with this week off so Easter seemed the best time to pay her a visit and completely destroy her house with our drunken shenanigans. For some strange reason the Easter bunny didn't stop by Scooby's house and I had to buy my own Reese's eggs on Sunday. How rude! To be honest, Easter was so early this year that it didn't even feel like Easter and it didn't phase me one bit that my family wasn't  having our usual Easter dinner. We'll have our turkey dinner sometime in April when Easter should have been and all will be right in the world. 


Can y'all believe that we are already over a week into Spring?! Normally the winter months just drag on and on and on for me but this year I actually feel like it just flew by (the warm winter we had definitely helped!). I was trying to come up with post ideas yesterday on my day off and realized that I had yet to do up a Spring Bucket List - I normally do one for each season just because I'm a list maker through and through and I love crossing things off a list - especially fun things! Considering I'm still working two jobs and still have a list of 29 Before 29 items to complete I kept this years Spring Bucket List a lot smaller than most of my seasonal bucket lists. Here's hoping I can manage to even cross 10 things off my list! 
Spring Bucket List 2016...

1I Enjoy mimosas on a patio
Patio season is sooo close y'all. We went for brunch and mimosas on Saturday -  it would have been perfect if it had been on a patio. We definitely would have froze our asses off though...

2I Go bird watching
As in watch the Blue Jays as they take on the Twins at Target Field over May Long. 49 more days!

3I Complete a Spring Photo Challenge
My poor dslr has been completely neglected - I still don't know how to use it out of auto mode. That needs to be fixed!

4I Get a new tattoo
Tattoo withdrawal is a real thing and I've been experiencing it for months so I need to do something to fix that. I just have so many ideas that its hard to decide which one to do first. Stay tuned!

5I Complete another round of the Whole30
One more week left to eat all.the.things before I start another round of the Whole30. Kidding. Maybe...

6I Run a 5K
I don't know that I'll find an actual event around O-town but regardless I want to run a 5K even if its just me and Krickit running around the streets of O-town 

7I Stay up all night and watch the sun come up 
Toni, Scooby, and I thought about doing this just this past Saturday while we were in Yorkton but when you start drinking before noon its pretty hard to do.  We will definitely be doing it this Spring though (when the sun comes up earlier and then we can drag our old asses to bed for half the day)

8I Practice yoga outside
The nice weather just needs to come back so this can start happening. We got teased with warm temps for a couple weeks so now that it hovers around -5 each day it feels like -30 since we got  used to the warmth 

9I Spring clean and de-clutter
My closet. My SUV. Everywhere really. There's just something about Spring that makes me want to throw all my stuff away and start over new. Which usually turns out bad for my bank account...

10I Enjoy morning walks with Krickit
With working two jobs and taking weekend trips away from O-town I feel like the worst puppy mama lately. I'm hopeful that some morning walks will help ease some of my 'mommy' guilt!

Ten Truths...

I've only posted 5 times the entire month of March. FIVE. If someone wants to send me some motivation to open my laptop up each night that would be great. The only time I've managed to show up lately is to write out ten things for 10 on Tuesday because lists are my favourite
Ten Truths...

1I I had to rewrite this post three different times to get it to format properly. I almost gave up and its still not exactly the way it should be

2I'm about a month behind on replying to blog comments but I refuse to just delete them without replying. So when you get a reply on a month old comment that's why...

3I haven't worked out in over two weeks. I've been making sure to get my steps in so I'm not a complete sloth but I need to get back at it. Summer is coming quick!

4My family isn't celebrating Easter this year (the way we normally would) so I'm skipping town and heading to see my friend Scooby. Since I won't be going into a turkey coma I'll be drinking my caloreis instead

5In my post last week I said that I was looking forward to starting another Whole30 but the closer it gets to the start date the more I am dreading it. I feel like I just finished my last round and here I am again about to start another one

6I'm starting to freak out that my birthday is 4 months and two days away. 29 is waaay to close to 30 y'all 

7I have a four day weekend coming up and I don't know what I'm going to do with  myself. This coming Sunday is my first Sunday off since August. August. I can't freaking wait but I've been working so much lately that its weird to think of getting that much time off at once

8I went to Wal Mart (because there is no Target close - ughhh) on Saturday to pick up a prescription and a couple other things and somehow ended up spending $120. I had imagined spending about $30 when I first walked in...

9I thought we were done with Winter weather since its been so nice so I washed my winter coat and hung it up in the closet, took all my winter gear out of my SUV, and even gave my SUV a nice bath on the weekend. Then it started snowing last night and hasn't stopped...

10I will never pay for another song on iTuns again. Spotify is my new favourite thing

Ten Things I'm Looking Forward To...

Living in Saskatchewan (in rural SK no less) isn't the most exciting thing in the world. Actually, its probably the least exciting (advocate for living in SK I am not...). I get the Winter Blues every year without fail and this year has been no exception, even with the mild Winter that we received. It's been fairly nice around here lately which has really lifted my spirits (though being stuck inside working when its nice outside is the hardest thing ever). I've also been getting out of the house more for girls nights and trips to the cities which has definitely helped push those Winter Blues away (hopefully them and winter are actually gone for good!)

Now that the days are longer and the snow is melted I can start looking forward to all the exciting things that are coming up and that just makes my heart SO happy!
Ten Things I'm Looking Forward To...

1| Bird watching. Aka baseball season to officially start. April can't get here soon enough! I've been following along with the Blue Jays Spring Training on Snapchat and it just makes me that much more excited for the season to start. Now if they could just televise the Spring Training games when I'm not at work that would be great

2| Cinco de Mayo. I love it so much I even referenced it in a speech at my brothers wedding. Give me all the margaritas and Mexican food please

3| Twin Cities trip. Bird watching, day drinking - it doesn't get much better than that! Only 64 more days...

4| Whole30 Round 4. I never thought that I would actually be looking forward to another round of the Whole30 but I need it to motivate myself to getting back at it. With my extra shifts and terrible sleep situation I just haven't been as active as I would like to be and my body hates me right now

5| Summmmer. Camping, boating, laying in the sun, beer pong - I just can't wait for it all!

6| Friday - my first day off in 19 days. I ended up going in to work for 6 hours last Saturday at my second job to fill in for someone so that makes three Saturdays in a row that I work.  I don't mind when its the early shift and the extra money is nice but my to do list is just getting longer and longer. Friday is my EDO from work and I have plans to sleep off my hangover from the night before (St. Patty's Day) and then start knocking things off the to do list before I work all weekend

7| Getting my braces off. And paid off.  At this point I really don't even notice them anymore but it will still be nice to finally be rid of them. I still don't know for sure when they will come off but I'm really hoping for before my birthday. At my last appointment my Orthodontist recommended that I wear elastics as much as possible in the 6 week period between my next appointment so that they will move along even quicker so I've been wearing them as much as possible (even though they are annoying af) because the quicker I can get something done the better! I make my last payment for them in June and that will be a huge relief!

8| Patio season. It's so close - I can't wait! 

9| Crossing things off my 29 Before 29 List. I'm just a little over 4 months away so I really need to step my game up. I can't wait to get working on them

10| Getting back on a consistent sleep schedule. I've never been this exhausted in my life - even when I was in College pulling all nighters writing papers because I was too busy partying to get assignments done on time. Somethings got to give!

Finally Friday...

I can't even tell you how many times I thought that yesterday was Friday. Two other people even told me it felt like it should be Friday so it wasn't just me. This week has been one that has just seemed to take forever to get to the weekend - thank gawd its almost here. I just have to get through work and then its time to get wild. And by get wild I mean get into my pajamas the minute I get home and sleep in past 8 am Saturday morning. A girl can dream...

ONE 
I FINALLY caved and got Spotify Premium. I've been putting it off but I'm getting tired of the same ole' music on my iPhone and I don't really feel like paying $1.29 each time I like a new song that I hear on XM so it was definitely time. I get a free month and then it will be $9.99 + tax each month from then on - I'm pretty sure it will be the best money I've ever spent. It will definitely come in handy with running AND I'm loving having music to listen to while at work - I do much better work when there is background noise. My work is normally very loud but when everyone is outside and I'm working on my computer the quiet makes me crazy! And I was too cheap to pay more money than I already do for XM to stream it on my computer. Yay for Spotify!

TWO
The Gap is having their 40% off Friends and Family sale so I used Ebates link (for 4% cash back) and bought a few things (even though I shouldn't have because budget). I justified it to myself though because I'm running out of clothes that fit (in a good way) and its still not warm enough for shorts and skirts/dresses and they make up the majority of my wardrobe in the summer. Now that I know how stinkin' easy it is to return items to Gap and Old Navy I won't hesitate to buy because it is seriously the easiest return process ever. The sizing is sooo off at those two places that I was always hesitant to try anything but not anymore! Now that I bought a few things though I'm having an itch to go on an all out shopping spree. Someone talk me down from the ledge please!

THREE
When I love something I make it very well known so all of my friends and family know about my love of coffee, Starbucks, mimosas, my iPhone, wine, sour patch kids, and my dog - just to name a few things- (making it real easy for them when it comes to buying me gifts - I wish they would make it that easy for me!) Within the last week I've been tagged in the following photos and they are just so ME
FOUR
I pulled a butt muscle doing the splits on the weekend. I wish I was kidding. Now I can't even get anywhere close to doing the splits (and I was so close to finally doing them y'all!). I also haven't been on my treadmill once this entire week. I blame my cat for stealing one of my gel guards for my foot and not getting anywhere to buy another one until halfway through the week. This has also been the worst week ever for me in a Workweek Hustle challenge. But Monday is the start of a new week and I'll be getting back at it! Summer is coming quick after all. Oh, and only 25 more days until I start another round of the Whole30 (what was I thinking?!)

FIVE
My Chi hair straightener bit the dust last year and I've been forced to use my back up (a cheaper one that I bought at Marshalls) ever since. As much as I don't want to spend the money (again, because budget) I think its time I finally purchase another quality straightenener. So I need opinions on which is the best brand to purchase. My hair is in desperate need!

Ten Things I've Been Terrible At Lately...

I love making lists so when I saw that Karli was starting a 10 on Tuesday link up I was all over that. Expect a post like this every single Tuesday because this is my kind of link up - list type posts are my favourite!
Ten things I've been terrible at lately....

1| Replying to blog comments. I'm so behind y'all. I will get to them this week

2| Sleeping. I'm still not sleeping much and if I am its for really small stretches at a time or at really weird times of the day. This post is being written at 3:37 am after I fell asleep around 8 pm and slept until 1:00 am. I had to get up to use the washroom and then couldn't fall back asleep so I've spent an hour on YouTube watching videos, then tried counting sheep (gave up on that real quick), refreshed Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram a million times (I've learned through this insomnia period that not much happens on social media in the middle of the night unfortunately), and then gave up and decided to start my day (my alarm goes off at 5 am anyways). I would be watching Netflix but the batteries in my Wii remote died (side eye)

3| Commenting on blogs. I just don't have any desire to open my laptop when I get home at night or even on my lunch break. I need to come up with a schedule and stick to it!

4| Eating healthy. Not that I've been eating super terrible but I've been skipping meals because of my weird sleep patterns and also drinking too much coffee because of the weird sleep patterns leaving me too full to eat. I'm starting another round of the Whole30 on April 5th so I need to get back into good eating habits now to make the Whole30 easier this time around

5| Sticking to a fitness routine. I haven't been terrible but I just haven't been consistently sticking to a schedule. My only saving grace is the Workweek Hustle challenges I've been participating in every single week for the past month to  keep me making sure I get to my goal each day

6| Sticking to my budget. I haven't been too terrible, its not like I'm going completely over budget every single month, but I've realized that I need to do some adjusting to the budget because I just haven't budgeted enough for gas, groceries (essentials) each month so each month I'm having to borrow from my savings or use my credit card and I'm trying really hard to go credit card free this year

7| Remembering to take my birth control. You would think that after 10 years I would be able to remember but the truth is I'm still terrible at taking it every day. Sometimes I will take it every single day for 21 days straight and then as soon as it comes to the sugar pills I mess myself up.  I used to set an alarm on my phone in the past but it would usually go off right when I was in the middle of something. I think I am going to try setting an alarm on my FitBit to vibrate when its time to take it and hopefully that will work! 

8| Spending time with Krickit. I've been working weird hours at my full time job and extra hours at my second job so I don't see her as much as I would like to. Add in my weird sleep schedule and sometimes I'll fall asleep while she is still upstairs and then not see her again until the next night. Now that it is getting nicer out (hallelujah!) I'm going to make it a goal to go for morning walks at least three times a week. In the summer we would take a nightly walk for an hour each night and I would love to get back to that too - I miss my baby!

9| Keeping up with laundry. I'm down to my last pair of pants today and only have one pair of socks left after today. I just hate doing laundry so much - I can think of a million things I'd rather do instead. I can't wait until Spring is actually here and I can wear shorts, skirts and dresses again. My winter wardrobe is very limited. Considering winter is the longest season you would think I would have more winter choices but that's not the case at all

10| Crossing things off my to do list. It's just getting longer and longer each day. In my defense I haven't had many free weekends lately with working Saturdays at my second job and going away for Kenton/Kels birthdays and to visit Scooby. This Saturday is my first 'free' Saturday in awhile and I have a list a mile long of things to get done. Wish me luck!

February Happenings...

What's New With You

I haven't gotten more than 5 hours sleep each night in almost two weeks y'all (so my FitBit tells me. And my body that is exhausted). I'm running on caffeine and hopes and dreams most days. Hence the reason why I haven't posted much in the past couple weeks (or replied to comments - tackling my inbox tonight, I promise!). Really though, most nights I'm just laying in bed willing myself to go to sleep (doesn't work for some reason...) so I should just be working on blog stuff since I'm awake anyways. I've tried so hard to close my eyes some nights that I actually give myself a headache. 

I definitely know part of the reason for my messed  up sleep patterns. You see, my schedule has been so messed up with working extra shifts at my second job and then for 8 days there was a sporting event on tv every night at 7:30 that lasted at least three hours that I had to watch so I have been getting my treadmill 'runs' (more walking than running at this point but I have to re-start somewhere) in at the most random times - one night I didn't even get on it until 11 pm. And at this point working on my fitness trumps sleep because a) caffeine can keep me going throughout the day and b) I'm competetive af and I've been participating in Workweek Hustle challenges each week through my FitBit and I have to make sure I'm up there with the leaders, if not winning. Priorities...


February was another blink and you miss it month (but I'm starting to realize that almost every month is like that - unless I have a vacation coming up then they are slow as molasses...). The beginning of February marked the end of the Whole30 for me and now I can't believe that in just another month I'll be starting another round (what was I thinking?!). My 'baby' brother and his wife both turned 25 at the beginning of the month and we celebrated with a night of drinks and laughs in Brandon, MB. It was so nice to get away, even if it was just for one night. After not drinking for over 30 days the recovery was even worse than it normally is. I've started realizing that it takes a lot longer to recover from a night of drinking than it did during my high school/college days. Sigh...

Speaking of that... another highlight of the month was when Toni and I headed up to Yorkton for a couple nights to see our friend Scooby. I think my lack of sleep has a lot to do with that visit as well. There was a lot of drinking, very little sleep, and again, I'm not 21 anymore and the hangover lasted a lot longer than it should have. Is it possible to still be hungover almost 2 weeks later?! Because the fog I've been living in sure feels like it... 

According to my camera roll there was a lot of drinking last month so after a month of no alcohol its no surprise I can't hang like I used to. All the sugar from the alcohol after a month of no sugar probably isn't helping my body and its weird sleeping habits either...


The best part of February for me?! When my brother texted me to tell me that we officially had our train tickets, hotel, and tickets purchased to go see the Blue Jays take on the Twins again in the Twin Cities in May. It will definitely be a tradition from now on and I can't wait for May Long! Following along with the Blue Jays spring training in Florida via Snapchat has been soo exciting - I've only been waiting since October! Speaking of Snapchat - I'm obsessed lately. It all started while in Yorkton visiting Scooby and finally convincing her to get it and now it's spiraled into a full on obsession (my sister has been even more obsessed than me though - its insane). The filters are just too funny not to use though! Obviously you should be friends with me on Snapchat to get gems like these (username chiglechic). 

The worst part of February for me was seeing my bank account drain as I paid my brother for the tickets/hotel and took out RRSP's before the contribution deadline. Being an adult sucks sometimes. I'm going to need a third job to meet all my goals this year - eek!

Since I don't want to end on a bad note a few other highlights of my month included participating in the Galentines Blogger Exchange (I love gift giving, remember), watching 'my' team make the playoffs at the Scotties (though I hate who won with every fiber of my being), winning a cutthroat Workweek Hustle (some of the other girls who participate are more obsessed than I am!) and rearranging my bedroom to get started on aquiring some furniture before I make the biggest purchase of my life. I live such an exciting life y'all (insert crying laughing emoji here)


So far there isn't much on the agenda for March, other than celebrating my Mama's birthday and having an Easter feast. I'm sure things will come up as the month goes on though and I just pray that I finally get back to a normal sleep schedule - wish me luck!
