Friday Things PLUS a Birthday Giveaway....

GUESS WHO'S FINALLY GETTING A BIG GIRL CAMERA?! I'm SO excited y'all (as if you couldn't tell that from my shout-y first sentence...). After using my friend Taigan's DSLR when I second shot at a wedding with her at the beginning of July I've been itching to buy my own DSLR more than ever. My iPhone just isn't cutting it for pictures anymore and I couldn't even tell you where my point and shoot camera is in the chaos that is my basement. The camera is supposed to get here next Thursday so that will give me a little over a week to figure it out before my brother's wedding. I'm terrible at reading instructions (as in I don't and usually just wing it) so this could be interesting! I'm obviously going to be busy doing Maid of Honour-y things during the actual wedding and reception but I want to get pictures of the chaos that happens before the actual wedding. I like photographing details more than people and since Taigan isn't starting photographing until 2:00 that day I can get detail shots of Kels' dress, their rings, Kenton getting ready, etc, etc. Also, finally purchasing a DSLR is one more thing crossed off my 30 Before 30 list! Whoop!
Canon EOS Rebel T5 18MP DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens Kit and Accessory Bundle

It's the August long weekend here in the GWN and for once I have not a single thing on my schedule for the weekend! There's a few things on my to do list (like getting started on the slide show for the wedding) but otherwise its a relaxing weekend for me. I only work two days next week so I have that to look forward to as well! I'm very much looking forward to parking my butt in a lawn chair or patio chair and never leaving it. I have so many books in my summer reading pile to get through, beer to drink, tan lines to get rid of, and long walks with Krickit to take.  I'm relaxed just thinking about it!

Since the beginning of Summer I've wanted to purchase a picnic basket so I could have a picnic with my nieces at the park. I know I could just throw things in a cooler but I want it to feel like a real picnic. I looked on Amazon and was thisclose to purchasing this one but held off. Holding off paid off for me because yesterday I scored TWO basically brand new picnic baskets off a FB garage sale site for $14! Winner winner chicken dinner!

I'm inserting a shameless plug right here: The childcare centre that I run is doing a Mabel's Labels fundraiser. Mabel's Labels are dishwasher, microwave, and laundry safe personalized labels. These labels are PERFECT for back to school and it saves the time and effort of writing everything out by hand. Writing someone's name on 56 crayons? No thank you!  You can check them out here!

The OCCC is a not for profit organization so this is VERY fitting

And finally... last Friday was my birthday and I had full intentions of having my Birthday Giveaway go live on my actual birthday but due to my little blogging break that obviously didn't happen. So, here I am a week later, on the last day of my birthday month, starting the giveaway. I LOVE celebrating birthdays and love gifting people so I am so excited to be doing this! What will you get if you win?

(2) EOS lip balms
Typo notebook
Typo zippered case
(I store makeup and other essentials in one of these cases in my purse)
A mystery surprise (who doesn't love suprises?!)

What are you waiting for? Get those entries in!

Good luck!

July 30, 2015

Look who showed up for class today! Late, as per usual, but I'm here so that's all that counts. I fell off the blogging wagon for awhile. And I don't feel an ounce of guilt about not publishing a post that entire time (like I normally would). I needed the blog break for my personal well being. I have a lot on my plate this summer, with MOH duties for my brother's wedding, things happening within my family that I'm not quite ready to talk about, a whirlwind trip to Vegas (that I'm still recovering from...) and just regular summer busy-ness that has drained every last ounce of my energy. I was trying to balance everything and I felt like I had the weight of the whole world on my shoulders. I was spiraling into a place I didn't want to be and I had to start taking things off of my to do list to balance out my life and blogging was one of the first things to go

As part of my monthly goals for July I wanted to blog every weekday in July. I was doing pretty well... until I wasn't. When the thought of sitting down to write a post gave me anxiety I knew that it was time for a complete break. No post about why I wouldn't be showing up around here, just a complete break for a couple weeks to clear my mind so I'd be able to come back to this space when I was ready and be able to enjoy it again. When your to do list is already a mile long and there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done you have to take a good look at what's going on and see where you can make adjustments to take some of weight off your shoulders. I was trying to fit in blogging during time that I should have been just enjoying the summer with my family, or sleeping, or exercising to get those good endorphins, and it just wasn't working for me anymore

For over a month now I haven't been the kind of blogger that I set out to be. Whether I'm writing or not I'm still checking in a couple times a week to catch up on my favourite blogs, but  I haven't been commenting, which is breaking the cardinal rule of blogging (IMO). I miss the connections with other bloggers that are forged when I'm posting and people are commenting, and when I'm commeting on others blogs. Even after almost three years of this blogging thing I'm still struggling to find where I fit into this blogging world. Maybe one day I'll figure it out, but for right now I just want to be able to enjoy the ride again

I needed some ME time to reset and recharge and I'm slowly getting there. The planning for bridal shower and stagette activities are over, the events are over, the vacations are over (unfortunately), and August is right around the corner and its a completely NEW month. I'm excited for where its going to take me! The countdown for the wedding is on, only 16 more days!

I'm not saying that I will be coming here every single day - considering my track record thats just laughable - but I feel so much more carefree as July comes to an end, my shoulders don't seem so heavy, and I'm feeling the itch to get back here more often. I have lots to update on the blog -  #KelsFinalFiesta, trips to Minneapolis and Vegas, Kels' bridal shower, etc. PLUS  I also have my birthday giveway to hold (better late than never)!

I Survived #kelsfinalfiesta...

I made it through the weekend y'all! Barely, but I did make it. Saturday was the BIG day - aka Kels' stagette. Okay, so maybe the wedding is what should be referred to as the 'big day' but after all my planning I feel like the stagette was equally as big and important! (just don't tell my brother and SIL that!) There were a few hiccups throughout the day but nothing major and Kels enjoyed herself and was happy with everything so that is all that matters!

It took me almost the full day to recover yesterday. Not so much for a hangover, but for the lack of sleep. I was up at 7:30 am Saturday morning finishing last minute prep for the stagette and I didn't get a chance to stop until it was time to head out to the Dam for the festivities to start at 2:00 pm. By the time 11:30 pm rolled around the bridal party was ready for bed - it was a looong day of drinking out in the sun. We won't talk about how my Mama and her sister outlasted us all by two and a half hours... (and its not the first time!)

I also ended up with a lovely sinus cold just in time for Vegas. I've been taking Advil Cold & Sinus like its my job so hopefully it does the trick. The splitting sinus headache that I woke up with yesterday was absolutely no fun! We fiesta'd like there was no manana on Saturday night and unfortunately Sunday did come and for some people it was not a good day. Kels was surprisingly fully functioning yesterday - truly shocking considering what we had her do and how much she drank. But more on that tomorrow! Check back then for a full recap of the fiesta themed stagette for #kelsfinalfiesta!

Five Favourites AND a Winner...

Yesterday afternoon my sister and I road tripped across the border to Minot, ND to get some last minute items for our soon to be sister in laws stagette this weekend. We didn't get there until 3:00 US time so it was quickly in and out of all the stores to get everything we needed. There were also a few pit stops to buy some things that weren't on our lists (never fails). My budget for this month was completely blown before it even began but I rationalize it as buying myself birthday gifts to make myself feel better about the purchases

Five Favourites

1| While in Brandon, MB almost two weeks ago for bridesmaid dress fittings I nabbed this Kate Spade planner at Coles. I love that it is a simple planner - I don't need anything extravagant - and I love the design, especially the back. Flamingos are my favourite. I kind of can't wait until August so I can start using it!

2| We had to stop at Bath and Body Works for Toni to grab some hand soaps for her work and I couldn't resist the allure of the 3 wick candles for only $10! The Pink Apple Punch is the perfect summer scent!

3| I've been wanting the Naked 2 Basics palette for a long time now and I can now finally call it mine. I have the Naked2 and 3 full palettes but wanted the Basics palette for when I'm travelling since the larger palettes don't fit in my makeup bag.. I hadn't intended on stopping at Sephora in JCPENNEY until my Mama messaged me asking to grab her foundation so I can blame this purchase on her...

4| I LOVE giving and receiving gifts (who doesn't?!) - I got these Nars lip pencils as my birthday gift and can't wait to try them out in Vegas!

5| This was another purchase from the day of shopping in Brandon. I got it at Winners and when I first saw it on the shelf I didn't even realize it was Kate Spade - I just loved the look of it and all the colours. Once I realized it was Kate Spade I absolutely had to get it. I'm going through a bit of a Kade Spade obsession right now - if we make it to the outlets in Vegas I'm sure I'll add another piece to my collection
Canada Day Giveaway Winner

Congratulations Belinda! Enjoy yourself some delicious coffee and my favourite Canadian treats!

Don't forget, my Birthday Giveaway is just a couple weeks away - make sure to check back for your chance to win!

I'm Bad At Math...

Here's a little tidbit about me y'all: I am TERRIBLE at math. I somehow managed to get a good enough grade in the first semester of Grade 9 math to be able to take Math 20 (Grade 10 math) in the second semester of Grade 9. I'm still not sure how that happened. It also meant I didn't have to take gym that semester so it was greaaaat to my 14 year old self who loathed gym class (and math but apparently it won out over gym. My almost 28 year old self is really confused about that now). Anywhoodle. (there's a point to this story, I promise). That then meant that in the first semester of Grade 10 I took Math A30. And that was the last math class I ever took (no math for me in College whoop whooop!). Because I SUCKED so hard at it. My principal was the teacher for that class and I'm pretty sure he pity passed me. I literally copied every single homework assignment from my two best friends and then completely bombed the tests - he had to have known what was up. Math just goes completely over my head. I aced classes like English, History, and Law but math and sciences just isn't my thing at all. I mistakenly took a semester of Chemistry 20 and can't believe I lived to tell the tale.

Logic problems are your foreign language.
This was you in high school:
The point behind that story: Now that you know exactly how terrible I am at math it should come as no surprise to you that I miscalculated and TODAY is actually the last day of my Canada Day Giveaway. Not yesterday like I said in yesterday's posted and tweeted out to everyone. Whooops!

So, if you haven't entered yet you still have time! Don't miss out because I counted it out on my fingers and now I'm 100% certain that today actually is the last day

Hashtag Humpday...

#Hashtaghumpday @ Life with Lolo
Since helping Taigan at the wedding I've been researching DSLR cameras online every chance I get. I found a good deal on Amazon for a Canon Rebel T5 but since I'm going to Vegas in just over a week I'm hesitant to hit purchase #wheresmymoneytree #ineedallthethings #wannabephotographer #illhavenoideahowtouseit
Only 8 more days until I'm off to Vegas and I have so much to do before then that I think I'll blink and it will be time to get on the plane #bringonthedaydrinking #andthesluts #andbyslutsimeanslots #obvi

One of my FAVOURITE episodes of Friends

I LOVE Big Brother but this season has been a yawn so far - I'm hoping it gets better or I might not be able to keep up with it this summer.  #wheresthedrama #bringbackelissa
Also, there is no way on earth I could go on Big Brother because that house is a MESS. How do they manage to get it that disgusting when they've only been there for a week?! #slobs #imaneatfreak

I sold my favourite lace skirt on a FB Garage Sale site and I've been having nightmares about it ever since. It was two sizes to big so it had to go but it was SO hard to part with it. Does anyone else get that attached to clothes or is it just me? #pleasetellmeimnotcrazy #contemplatedgainingweightbacktomaketheskirtfit

I was thisclose to buying my cousins pretty much brand new treadmill when she posted it on the same FB Garage Sale site but I had to put the brakes on and remind myself that I need money for Vegas and that right now I can run outside so I don't need one right away #ihatepeoplewatchingmerun #buyingmyselfatreadmillthiswinter

That's all I've got for you today BUT don't forget, today is the LAST day to enter my Canada Day Giveaway - if you haven't entered yet then what are you waiting for?!

Tuesday Truths...

1| At this very moment I feel like this is the busiest I have ever been in my entire life. Between catching up at work from my week off, to planning a stagette (this weekend!), bridal shower, and Vegas Dirty Thirty plans I feel like there isn't any space left in my brain for anything else. My desks at home and at work both look like bombs went off on them
2| I really haven't drank much since the epic weekend in Minneapolis (that I still haven't recapped -writing that down to remind myself to get on that...) so I'm afraid of how I'm going to feel come Sunday morning.  It's a good prep before Vegas though - only 9 more sleeps. But who's counting....

3| I had initially planned on blogging every day in July as part of my Summer Bucket List but I went back to change that to every week day because aint nobody got time for blogging on the weekends. A fact that I realized when it was 8:30 pm on Sunday and I hadn't written a post for that day yet. Whooops... I did manage to get one done on Saturday though while I was still at my aunt and uncle's cabin so that feat itself was pretty impressive. Though I'm sure it will be an absolute miracle if I actually do show up on this space every weekday in July. I'll try my hardest though!

4| I haven't worked out since Thursday (I'm hanging my head in shame right now). The weekend was sooo crazy, we left for the cabin on Friday afternoon before I could get a work out in and then yesterday I was so exhausted after work and after taking Graycie to the pool for a bit  all the energy was just drained out of me.  Excuses, excuses - I know. Today I WILL get back at it. I contemplated ordering the 3 Day Refresh from Beachbody to do before Vegas but when I saw the price I exnayed that. That $70 could me much better spent in Vegas!

Aaaan that's all the truths I can manage to pull out of my jumbled brain. Don't forget to enter my Canada Day Giveaway - only two days left to enter!

July 6, 2015

Good morning y'all! I am riding the struggle bus today and it wasn't even a long weekend for me -thank the good lord for coffee, its the only thing that is going to get me through this day!

As mentioned in my post on Saturday, I drove up to Lake Metigoshe, MB on Friday afternoon with my sister and her 2 girls to go to our aunt and uncles cabin. They have an adorable cabin right on the water and I love visiting them at their lakefront oasis. We got to take in the 4th of July fireworks show on the water on their pontoon boat on Friday night. I'm 99% certain its the first time in my entire life I've seen fireworks on the 4th of July. I can't even remember the last time I went to watch fireworks on Canada Day so it was nice to be able to see them. When we got back to the cabin we relaxed in the hot tub - the perfect way to end the day!

I had to leave the cabin early Saturday morning because I spent Saturday assisting my friend Taigan, an amazing photographer, at a wedding at a beautiful location in Kenosee Lake. The reception was in a town 45 minutes from the ceremony site and we ran into some crazy weather on our drive to the ceremony site. At one point it was hailing so bad that we felt like it was going to break the windshield - talk about being stressed! When we first started the day we were worried about surviving in the heat - it was SO hot and humid (there were even tornado watches at home, 45 minutes away). After photographing the bridal party getting ready and a few shots at the railroad tracks in town it was time to head to the ceremony site and that's when we noticed how dark the sky was looking towards the NW, exactly where we were heading and that's when the crazy weather started. Luckily it cleared right up just before the ceremony and there was a nice breeze to cool things down and make it the perfect weather for an outdoor wedding.

Taigan gave me her older DSLR to shoot with on auto mode and I was thrown right into the world of wedding photography and got to second shoot for her. It was so much fun and now I want my own DSLR even more than I did before! Taigan is shooting my brothers wedding in a little over 5 weeks and I'm absolutely certain that their photos are going to be just as gorgeous as the one's from this wedding - they are ah-mazing! Check out Taigan's photography Facebook page and see for yourself how good she is! I also got to meet baby Ripley, Taigz' 4 week old baby. I was to scared to hold her though - I have an irrational fear of dropping newborn babies, even when I'm sitting down. I like to wait until around the 3 month mark (except when it came to my nieces - somehow I was okay with it). Maybe a reason I don't have any desire to reproduce anytime soon?

As much fun as I had helping Taig out with the wedding, it was also great just to spend the day with her and get to catch up. She is one of my oldest friends and we don't get to see each other all that often now that we've both got busy lives and live and hour and a half from each other. I can't wait until I get to help her out again!

Yesterday was my last day of vacation before having to head back to work after a week off. I was pretty depressed thinking about having to go back to work today (I so should have been a teacher to get summers off...) but then I remembered that I still have over 25 holiday days to use up and that I have more vacations upcoming and it made the thought of heading back to work a little more bearable. I lazed around most of the day and watched the Blue Jays beat the Tigers and then watched the Riders lose by 2 points in overtime to the Argonauts - grrrr. I felt rough for most of the day, like I was hungover but hadn't even drank. Taigan said wedding hangovers are a real thing and I understand it now that I've experienced it. I don't want to even think about how I'm going to feel after my brother's wedding - its gonna be a rough one for sure...

Don't forget about the Canada Day giveaway - there are still 3 days left to enter!

Happy 4th of July...

Happy 4th of July weekend to my American friends! This post is coming to you from Lake Metigoshe, MB - just a stones throw from the US border. I spent last night at my aunt and uncles cabin after road tripping up with my sister and nieces. We took in the 4th of July fireworks on the lake last night on the pontoon - probably the first time I've ever seen 4th of July fireworks to be honest. I missed out on the Canada Day fireworks this year so now I can cross seeing fireworks off my list.

I only have a little time left here at the cabin before I have to head back to SK to assist a photographer friend with a wedding. I'm really sad to be leaving the cabin - it's my happy place for sure - depending how exhausted I am at the end of the day I may head back to the cabin tonight.  I just love it here!

Don't forget about my Canada Day giveaway -  I'm writing this on my phone so I can't put the giveaway info in this post but you can see it in yesterday's post!

Five Things PLUS a Giveaway...

1| I've had this entire week off of work and its now Friday and I've hardly crossed off a single thing on my to-do list. Why do vacations go by so fast but a normal work week drags on? So not fair!
2| Remember when I said last week that I went a little shopping crazy at the beginning of June? That was supposed to be it for any shopping until my trip to Vegas (only 2 more weeks!) but my sister and I did some major damage to our bank accounts while in MB last weekend. We went to try on our bridesmaid dresses to get them altered and ended up with the back of my SUV filled with shopping bags. Whoooops. Stay tuned for a post next week about some of my new favourites!

3| I'm loving Helene's #31photosinbetween Instagram challenge. I've found some great new accounts to follow and am loving all the different takes on the daily prompts. Follow me on Instagram to see what I'm posting for the daily prompts- @chiglechic

My take on the Cool, Calm, & Creative and Up, Up, and Away prompts
4| I'm heading to my aunt and uncles cabin this afternoon and I can't wait - my vacation will finally feel like a vacation! I'm only able to stay the one night because I'm assisting a photographer friend with a wedding tomorrow but one night is better than none. Their cabin is in Manitoba and just a stones throw from the US border. There are going to be fireworks tonight for the 4th of July and since I didn't get anywhere to see fireworks on Canada Day I'm really looking forward to it!

My aunt and uncles lake oasis. I love it there
5| Today's the day of my Canada Day Giveaway! It's my birthday month and Canada's birthday month and I'm excited to celebrate with y'all! And yes, I'm aware that Canada Day was on Wednesday but considering I'm normally waaay behind on everything being only two days behind is a win for me!

Canada Day Giveaway prize contents:
Tim Hortons Dark Roast Coffee (if you're a coffee lover - and who doesn't love coffee?! - then you're sure to love this!), Tim Hortons mug, $10.00 Tim Hortons gift card*, and some of the best snacks you'll find in Canada (some not pictured for a surprise factor!)
Good luck!

*If the winner is a US resident I will exchange the Tim Hortons gift card for a Starbucks card of the same value

July Goals...

Hellllo July - my favourite month of the year. It took you long enough to get here, I've been waiting all year for you! What's so great about July you ask? It's my birthday month! Only 22 more days until I'm the big 2-8 (eeek!). Aaand only 19 days until my sister turns the Dirty Thirty. It's also the month of Kels' stagette, VEGAS, and Kels' bridal shower. It's going to be a busy month for sure but I'm embracing it. Since I've got lots going on and lots to get done I'm going to get straight to it - June Goals progress and my goals for July

June Goals Progress

1. Send out snail mail to my Pocket Letter ladies
Who knew creating these Pocket Letters would be so hard?! I've been struggling with my creativity so they've been sitting half finished on my desk since the beginning of June. I WILL get them in the mail today though!

2. Complete my Spring Bucket List
Yeah... So... I only managed to complete 5 things in TOTAL off of my Spring Bucket list. Major fail

3. Create my Summer Bucket List
DONE! You can check out what I plan on crossing off this Summer here

4. Complete 10 things off my 28 Before 28 list
Nope. That just means I have even more things to do this month. Awesome...

5. Blog at least 13 times in June
I had such good intentions y'all! I've got lots of post ideas ready and I only needed to post on Monday and Tuesday of this week to make my goal but I started my weeklong vacation on Monday and other things took precedent. 11 times isn't so bad though, considering how terrible I was doing before June. I'll still take it!

6. Complete 10K steps every weekday
Whooo! Even if it meant walking laps around the house until I hit those steps I made it happen. I credit a lot of the weight I've lost to my FitBit just making sure that I'm active each day. I love my FitBit so much!

7. Complete two things off my 30 Before 30 list
Again, didn't happen. But I also kind of completely forgot this was one of my goals for June so I wasn't even thinking about my list last month - whoops! Good thing I've still got two years for this one

8. Finish 5 sewing projects
Still completely taking over my parents dining room with half finished projects. Kels and I both said at the beginning of the week how bad we feel for neglecting our poor sewing machines

9. Get started on my blog redesign
Definitely didn't happen :( I haven't had much extra time to think about what I want so I can give Erin an idea of what I'm looking for so I think this may have to wait until August now because July is craaaazy enough as it is

10. Enjoy a 'stay'cation
Currently in the process of enjoying my 'stay'cation. Though there hasn't been much relaxing happening so since I still have so many vacation days left I'm thinking another week off in August is in my future

1. Complete 14 items off of my Summer Bucket List
There are 28 items on my list, and since I don't count September as really being Summer I figure that I should knock off half in July and the rest in August - wish me luck!

2. Host Kels' stagette and bridal shower
I'm throwing a freebie in here - this is obviously going to get crossed off because it has to get done

3. Get rid of my tan lines in preparation for the wedding
Oooh boy this is quite the task. I have about three different tan lines going on at the moment and need to completely get rid of them. Considering I only own one item that is strapless in my entire wardrobe this is not going to be easy. There's always a spray tan as back up...

4. Cross two items off of my 30 Before 30 list
I have completely failed at checking items off my 30 Before 30 list. I fear that it will be a month before my 30th and I'll be scrambling to get things done. So instead, I'm going to try and slowly get these things crossed off my list. I've got a little over 2 years to go and lots to get done!

5. Read three (of the 7) books sitting on my nightstand
Bonus points if I actually get through all seven. And the Harry Potter series isn't counted in that number either... I normally am an avid reader but life has just been craaazy lately that I start a book and fall asleep within two seconds

6. 10K steps per day 5 days out of the week

7. Work out with Jillian Michaels 5 days per week
I just started 6 Week 6 Pack yesterday - my whole body is protesting it today but its actually a really good workout and I'm excited to see where I'll be in 6 weeks!

8. Cross every item off of my 28 Before 28 list and create my 29 Before 29 list
Not an easy task considering I've hardly crossed anything off and I'm on a tight budget this month with Vegas coming up and two parties to host. I didn't create my 28 Before 28 list until 6 months before my 28th birthday so this year I'm going to give myself a whole year to start crossing off my 29 things!

9. Take Krickit for a morning walk at least three mornings a week
We've been going for more nightly walks lately and I'd much rather make better use of my time in the mornings and get our walks out of the way so I can concentrate on other things that need to get done once I'm off work

10. Hold a couple of giveaways on the blog
One of those giveaways, a Canada themed giveaway in honour of Canada's birthday, is coming at you tomorrow and the other will be closer to the end of July in honour of MY birthday. I love giving gifts so when better than around my own birthday! Make sure you check back for them!

What are YOUR July goals?

July 1, 2015

Happy Birthday to the Great White North...

A few completely random reasons why I love my home - the Great White North

152 weeks of paid maternity leave
Not that I have any immediate plans of using it, but its awesome knowing that its an option. It was hard enough leaving Krickit at home when she was a teeny tiny puppy, I can't imagine having to leave behind a teeny tiny baby. And I even work in the early learning field

2| Poutine
You haven't fully lived until you've had this delicious, totally calorie free, creation. What's better than french fries, cheese curds, and gravy all mixed together?!

3Canada gifted the world with Ryan Gosling. And Ryan Reynolds. And Seth Rogen. And TAYLOR KITSCH
The list could actually go on and on but nothing compares to Taylor Kitsch so I'll leave it at that. And leave you with this:

Taylor Kitsch Wallpaper
 4Ketchup and All Dressed chips
Yes, they're ah-mazing. Yes I can mail you some if you've never tried them. Yes, you'll be completely addicted and contemplating moving to the Great White North

5| Universal Health Care
Sorry, I couldn't leave this one out. Again, I don't plan on having babies anytime in the near future but the idea of not having to shell out 20K + just to give birth makes thinking about having them in the future a little bit easier of a pill to swallow

6| Ogopogo
Forget the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot, we've got our own famous creature located in Lake Okanagan, BC. If you grew up in Canada and didn't pretend that Ogopogo was in the water of the lake you were swimming in to scare your little brother (or sister) then you haven't really lived!

7| The amazing sport of Curling
I'm sure all but one person reading this even knows what curling is and appreciates it like I do (Hi Mallory! Ok, maybe two people. Hi Mama!). It's my favourite winter sport and I could spend all day, everyday watching it on tv. I only watch hockey during the Olympics (Sorry! Please don't kick me out of Canada!)

Aaaand that concludes theeee most random list of things I love about the place I call home. I could go on, and on but I need to get workin' on my to-do list so I can relax with a drink later on while watching the Blue Jays game and enjoyin' the heck out of Canada Day. Make sure to check back THIS Friday - I have a Canada themed giveaway planned that you won't want to miss out on!

If you're looking for more about this great nation, last year on Canada Day I broke some Canadian stereotypes - you can check it out here

Happy Birthday Canada!
